Willie Thomas’ Jazz class, The Funtime Blues Band, kicked off this week with percussion, singing and smiling faces. This is by far the most popular class that has been held at The Funhouse! It is quite a remarkable class considering the skill level of all the musicians involved, besides Willie, Al Bentley, Emily Miner, Tony Morales and Steve Alboucq are also helping provide this opportunity for the kids. If you are interested in Jazz it is worth stopping by to see the class in action, these kids are certainly some cool cats!
The Funtime Blues Band is every Monday afternoon 3:30-4:45 p.m.
Does your kid have a birthday during the rainy season? Then check out The Funhouse for birthday parties! From simple to elaborate, we have a party package that’s right for you! To download a rate sheet click here.
Funhouse staff and the 9th grade class had a great time getting to know each other at Camp Orkila last week. Divided by gender into two groups, each group completed cooperative group initiatives as well as both low and high ropes course elements. A fun time was had by all and everyone challenged themselves to try something new, whether that was to put on a harness, dance across a log-30 ft in the air, or work as a team. Thank you Orkila, 9th grade and The Funhouse for a great day!
Back in 1999, when The Funhouse was first imagined, things were lookin’ pretty bad for kids on Orcas. Since then, things have gotten better and better every single year: Drug use is down, tobacco use is down, crime use is down. Here’s a report we put together every couple years based on the most recent data available. To download a PDF copy click here.
