Spring Class Schedule

Kids:

Science Made Simple: Lana Hickman. Science can be fun and easy! Lana is a fun and engaging teacher whose love of science will help your young ones get inspired to learn more! Ages: 6 and up. Tuesdays, April 13-May 4, 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Fee: $40 members/$50 non-members.
Green Kids: Iris Parker Pavitt. This class will teach the foundations of sustainable living for kids who are just learning about their role in the world and how they can choose to interact with nature.  We will cover various organic farming techniques, basic botany, eco-friendly architecture, the role of livestock and much more! Ages:  K-3rd grades.  Thursdays, April 15- May 6, 3:30-4:30 p.m.  Fee:  $50 members/$60 nonmembers.
Running Club: Funhouse Staff. “Girls on the Run” and “Boys on the Run”. Stay in shape and compete in spring races. Running Club meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Sign up required. Parents check our website for weekly weather reports.  Fee: $50
Music Together: Mary Giampietro. Spring session, “The Tamborine”, begins in early April. Internationally recognized Music Together® offers music and movement for children from birth thru age 5 and their parents/caregivers. For program info: www.musictogether.com. Animation Basics: Susanna Beck & Davis Limbach. Learn to create the magical effect of animation in flipbooks and digital film.  Impress everyone with simple tricks and post your finished project to YouTube!  Ages:  10 and up. Wednesdays,  April 14-May 19, 3:30-5:00 p.m.  Fee: $60+$10 material fee.
Walk the Woods with Wally. Join biologist and ecologist Matthew Wallrath for an informative spring nature walk.  We will explore native trees and shrubs of Orcas Island and learn how to accurately identify them using common clues and classic botanical traits.  Time will be spent discussing plant community ecology and the role of introduced species, with an eye for stewardship of the island for years to come.  Sunday, May 9th & May 23rd from 1-4 pm. Ages: 10 and up. Fee: $25.

Teens/Adults:
Adult Chemistry:  Lana Hickman. Four separate classes identifying the Chemistry of Coffee, Cocoa/Chocolate, Spirits, and Natural Products.  Understand our relationship with these substances and how they work in our bodies.  Mondays, April 12- May 3, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Fee: $40 members/$50 nonmembers.
High School Biology for Adults:  Greg Brooks. Topics will include the Philosophy of Science, BioChemistry, DNA, Viruses, Bacteria, Cell Structure, and Genetics. Tuesdays, April 13-May 25, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Fee:  $75 members/$100 nonmembers.
Mac 101:  Gene Nery. Fundamentals of Apple Macintosh computers for beginners.  We will look at the Mac operating system, email, photos, music, Internet, downloads, and more.  There are no dumb questions!  Thursdays, April 15-May 20, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Fee: $75 members/$100 nonmembers.
Basic Website Maintenance: Joe Thoron. Geared towards the small business owner including how to change text, images & more without breaking your site.  Wednesdays, April 14-May 19, 9:00-10:00 a.m.  Fee: $75 members/$100 nonmembers.
Guitar Classes:  Gene Nery. Group and individual classes ranging from beginner through advanced.  Classes based on interest so call to inquire!

After school Bike Shop:  Mikail. Learn basic bike mechanic skills and get your bike geared up for spring.  Wednesdays. FREE!

Recording Studio: KT Laslo. Learn the art of recording, from studio miking to digital recording. The Funhouse has an amazing studio with Pro Tools, great mics, guitars, amps and digital and analog (piano) keyboards. Fine tune using our collection of outboard gear and digital effects. Mix and Burn your original music to CD’s. Classes will be set up based on interest.
