Annual Funhouse Science Fair

A great time was had by all, with over 90 kids participating in the 6th annual Science Fair at The Funhouse. Safety demos with OPALCO's electrical board and crafting aerodynamic paper airplanes with George Garrells added to the science fun of the day. Along with live canon demonstration and even a science rap, the 2007 Science Fair with a great success! A BIG thank you to everyone who helped out and of course to all the kids that worked hard and eagerly showed off their science projects to the wondering wizards. And a special THANK YOU to Doug and Nancy Boyden for making this year possible! Hope to see you all next year!

The Mentor Program

Sometimes kids need a caring adult outside of their family structure. The Mentor Program meets this need by carefully creating a match between child and adult. We match the needs and interests of the child with the skills and abilities of the volunteer adult. The child's parents or guardians are always a significant part of the matching process and must give final approval along with the child. Both adult and child commit to a six to twelve month time frame and meet once a week at a time convenient to both.

All the resources of The Funhouse are open to the match free of charge. Mentor matches have created art, woven clothes, played pool and foosball and music at The Funhouse as well as have met outside it to go hiking and attend plays. For the safety of the children, all mentor volunteers undergo a Washington State Patrol background check and a thorough interview with Funhouse staff.
